Getting Inspired . . . It doesn't hurt to dream
/In·spi·ra·tion - the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. Inspiration ignites and sets us off in on our life’s journey. The mantra for an inspired life is simple . . .“Create . . . Explore . . . Expand”
Inspiration often starts with a Dream. When the dream becomes a Vision it gains power and momentum. Have you ever heard some one say “they have a fire in their belly?” That is a perfect way to describe living with passion. Inspiration is the element that is the catalyst that turns your dreams into your reality.
For some, it easy to dream about the future - for others dreaming about the future might seem like something that was left behind in childhood. You remember . . . playing make-believe. I remember the countless hours I played dress up in my playhouse with friends. When I was five it was easy for me to tell anyone what I was going to be when I grew up, how I was going to change the world and what my community and family looked like. None of my play dates told me it wasn’t possible so I could dream for hours. My friends played along adding their own spin and their personal dream of their future.
Then we grow up and the fun and joy of imagining and dreaming about the future disapears. Our mind gets busy remind us of why it isn’t possible. We begin easily find flaws in our dreams. You see being an adult can put a damper on how much actual time we allow for just dreaming and being creative. So today I encourage you to find time each day to turn down your practical, methodical, planning and thinking side and just DREAM.
It is simple, all you need to take a few moments every day to think about who you are, what you like to do, how you imagine your future. Reflect on the qualities and experiences that bring you joy, passion and warm your heart. Do nothing more then turn up your imagination and dream. Think about how fun the world looks. Imagine how excited you would feel if each morning when you wake up you knew that today you are on a journey to live your dreams. Here is a fun and simple activity that I do several times a year. Dream Boards are a great way to give your dreams form . To start gather the following supplies:
- Small cardboard square
- Old magazines and pictures
- Scissors
- Glue
Then cut out pictures, words and symbols that represent your dreams and inspirations. Next, glue the images on you're cardboard square. Finish by naming the dream board and dating it. Then find a place at your office or home to put your dream board where you will be able to see it each day. Then use your Dream Board as a way to keep yourself inspired and focused on your vision for your future.
